She found him in the break room, wrestling with scissors and tape, trying to get the red wrapping paper around the teddy bear. “Need some help with that?” Lindsay asked, trying to hide her grin as he almost cut the ear off the bear and swore.
“I don’t know how the hell they wrap these things,” Flack muttered, shoving the paper, bear, and tape to the other side of the table. “And it’s the only thing Emily wants this year. Just teddy bears. Took me three weeks to find one someone hadn’t already got her.”
“Who’s Emily?” Lindsay asked, smoothing out the wrinkled paper and placing the bear in the center.
Flack grinned with pride. “My neice. Who happens to currently be obsessed with teddy bears. Read some book about a teddy bear picnic and that’s all she’s talked about for the past six months. Hard to find one she doesn’t have – her birthday was last month. Can’t believe she wants more,” he said with a groan.
Lindsay smiled. “How cute. How old is she?” She creased the paper with precision, taking a small amount of tape to secure the paper.
“Six. Got me wrapped around her little finger, too. Don’t know how the kid does it,” he said with a shake of his head, but a smile on his face.
Securing the bow, Lindsay handed the package back to him. “Now that wasn’t so hard,” she teased.
“Don’t rub it in,” Flack replied. She stood up to get a cup of coffee. “Hey, Linds.”
She turned. “Yeah?”
“I’ll buy you a fresh cup. As thanks.”
